Children Are More Often Uninsured
Strange finding reported by the Journal of the American Medical Association show that children are more likely to be uninsured than their parents, even if one or both of their parents actually has coverage. This phenomenon seems to be more prevelant in low/middle income families, hispanic families, and families who are covered with publicly funded insurance as opposed to privately acquired. Those analyzing the results of the study theorize that parents may be able to afford coverage for themselves, but not for their children. This leads to irregular preventative care and could possibly result in more critical illnesses among these children. What steps need to be taken to make sure that more of these 9 million uninsured children in America are cared for?
