Daschle Departure to Cost Reform Movement Momentum?

The unexpected resignation of Tom Daschle has put President Obama’s reform movement in an unusual predicament. Daschle’s experience and knowledge in both the health and political landscapes served to shape the course of health care reform as it would procede in the coming year. Admitting to mistakes on his taxes, Daschle withdrew his nomination as head of the Health and Human Services Department, which has forced the Obama administration to regroup. The time it will take to sort this out, and reassign job responsibilities is predicted to cost the reform movement a considerable amount of momentum as Obama’s presidency gets underway. How much will this unfortunate situation affect the ability of Obama’s administration to deliver on the promises he made during his campaign?

It will slow it down some, but I am sure they have back-up plans in place.

Yes, of course it will affect the administrations promises. They brought in Daschle because of who he knows and what he can do. It seems like they are scrambling to find someone now since they have to be sworn in by the 16th.
