Health Insurance Blog Says Drug Sales Fall With Recession
For the first time in roughly fifty years, IMS is predicting that drug sales will drop this year. The drug data firm is forcasting a 1-2%drop in sales as a result of the recession and a shift in financial burden from insurance companies to individuals in the form of higher deductibles and copayments. Also, there is more competition from generic brands, pushing major drug companies such as Pfizer and Sanofi to enter the global generics business.
