Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius was officially confirmed yesterday as the head of Health and Human Services, with her mission to overhaul the U.S. health care system. The appointment means that the last of Obama’s cabinet positions is now filled. The department, with Sebuilius in the captain seat, will focus on issues facing the elderly and poor, as well as medical research and disease control. As a matter of fact, the agency is currently working on managing the recent outbreak of swine flu. Sebelius will focus on controlling and reducing costs as well as exapanding the availability of health insurance coverage to reduce the number of uninsureds in the country. What are your thoughts on this appointment? Do you think Sebelius was a good choice for this position? Does she have the skills and experience to make a difference?
Who knows, time will tell.
