Health insurance pays for medical homes
What exactly is a Medical Home? When President Obama and the Democrats discuss changing the heal care industry the term medical home is brought up frequently. A Medical home is an idea to reinvent primary care doctors and medicine by rewarding doctors and hospitals that practice and promote preventative care. According to a panel of medical experts a medical home is not an actual place but rather a solution to our health care problems. Nowadays under our existing health care system doctors see as many patients as humanly possible in one day and invoice the health insurance company as much as they can per patient. How would things differ if doctors saw fewer patients per day and focused on quality and wellness rather than the acute illness and in return the doctors got paid extra?
I think the premise is way to broad brush. Not all doctors see as many patients as humanly possible in one day and invoice the health insurance company as much as they can per patient. Surely the insurance companies can reward performance-based outcomes and negotiate lesser pay for the reprehesible practives mentioned.
