Insurance Stocks Climb
After the release of new projections regarding Medicare, insurance company stocks climbed slightly. The health insurance for elderly citizzens has an enrollment of roughly 10 million people. After a pretty dramatic fall in February based on negative projections for the program, the climb is a relief to many. On Monday, the government released final numbers that were more positive than the orginal projections, pointing to the fact that Medicare will remain viable in 2010, albeit at a lower margin. Experts point to a sense of relief as the reason for the climb, since many had anticipated much worse. How do you think Obama’s proposed reforms will affect the market, as well as Medicare on the whole, over the coming year?
