Latest Victory in Health Insurance Reform
The long standing practice of charging women more than men for the same health insurance coverage is finally coming to an end. On Tuesday, Karen M. Ignagni, president of America’s Health Insurance Plans, testified before the Senate Finance Committee that the disparity in premiums between men and women would eliminated. The bill to make this activity forbidden was introduced on Tuesday, and joins a number of other reform proposals including the agreement between health insurance companies and the government that no individual would be declined for a prexisting condition if a mandate were in place requiring every citizen to carry health insurance. Do you think these major changes will actually come into effect, or is this all just talk? Will Americans soon see the availability of affordable health insurance?
