Michigan Sees Decline in Health Insurance
Michigan, which once enjoyed a health care system among the best in the nation, has witnessed a decline in recent months. The number of people without insurance his risen, affecting a disproportionate number of blacks and hispanics especially. Those with employer provided health insurance have declined, as many companies have had to cut costs and either eliminate health benefits, or make them too costly for most employees to afford. The number of children without insurance has risen more than most groups, and roughly 85% of those without insurance hold less than college degree. Thefore, the decline has affected minorities, children, and those without much education. Given the state of the economy, should this come as a suprise?
