Obama Already Making Good on Promises
Before he has even officially taken office, Obama is already delivering on promises he made in his campaign to expand health care. With the approved expansion of the State Childrens Health Insurance Program, or SCHIP, roughly 4 million additional children will join the existing 7 million which currently qualify for federally funded health insurance. The program is designed to help children whose families are not qualified to receive Medicaid benefits, but are too poor to acquire health insurance through other means. With this program assisting millions more children, it is hoped to drastically reduce the percentage of uninsured children in this country. It is hoped that a win such as this so early in Obama’s presidential career will give momentum to the health care reform which needs to take place over the coming months and years. Do you think this will provide that momentum reform proponents are hoping for?
