Obama’s Attack on Medicare Advantage Plans
Stocks are taking somewhat of a dive since since Obama has unveiled his proposal to cut federal funding toward private providers of the government subsidized program. This should come as no suprise as Obama has been criticising the value of Medicare Advantage plans for months, indicating that they are a waste of money. Obama feels that much money would be saved if these “middle men” were eliminated, making Medicare available only directly through the government. This has caused stocks for the top Medicare providers to fall including Humana, UnitedHealth, Aetna, and others. While the companies themselves remain adamant that they are providing a valuable service to seniors by making the plans more user friendly, do you agree with Obama that they are a waste of money?
