Survey Says…..
In a 2008 Employer Health Benefit survey conducted by the Kaiser Family Foundation, it was found that among companies offering coverage to their employees, about half of these offered some sort of wellness program such as weight loss counseling or gym membership. Most of these companies also offered a tiered system of prescription coverage, allowing employees to decide the amount they would pay toward prescription drugs. Also, when asked about the future, close to 15% of companies admitted they would be raising workers premium contributions in the coming year. Finally, the survey determined that about 33% of companies were offering retirement benefits, which is about half the percentage of companies in 1988. What do these trends predict about the future of employer sponsored coverage? Are we coming to an age where employees will be on their own for health insurance and retirement saving, or is there a way to turn these trends around?
Survey says that most people can’t afford health insurance anymore. I’ll tell you that my rates have gone up over 75% over the course of the past 3 years. What to do about this problem?
