Insurance companies that insure a child before the onset of the disease should be fully responsible to cover their care. That being said I strongly advocate federally subsidized state programs to insure their total health needs. That includes autistic related issues for their parents and care providers, as well as, increased funding to track the huge increase in the disease, research into its possible cuases and cure research. I'm not sure what it will take for this to change. I think it all comes from awareness. Burdens are built on information. People can't have a burden for things that they don't really know and understand. To change the current view of autism, it will probably take a little campaigning. Wow…this is a big subject! And that tends to come in the form of rate increases for everyone. What if the government stepped in with a program like Medicare for autism?
